Title: Research Assistant (Experimental Physics, Machine Learning, and Detector Development)

Project: Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO)

We are excited to announce four research assistant positions in the Experimental Physics Division at the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (EPD-IHEP-CAS). The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on the prestigious Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) project.

Responsibilities:

As a research assistant at IHEP, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in algorithm design and software development in the JUNO project.
  • Assisting in development and implementation of machine learning pipelines.
  • Designing and optimizing new detectors through simulations.
  • Analyzing experimental data, interpreting results, and contributing to scientific publications.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and engineers to achieve project objectives.
  • Participating in meetings, workshops, and conferences to present research findings and learn about the latest advancements in the field.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Statistics, Deep learning, or a related field.
  • Experience in C++ or Python software development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in English (listening, speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Background in Physics is not a neccessity.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with data analysis tools and software commonly used in experimental physics, such as CERN ROOT.
  • Familiarity with detector technologies and instrumentation used in neutrino experiments.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and machine learning techniques.

Salary and Contract:

  • 3000-6000 CNY/month
  • The contract is signed on a yearly basis and can be extended yearly, subject to funding support.
